So I guess you can say I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to new app's and what not. I just heard about Yahoo! launching a new music app on the Andriod market called 'Play'. Play automatically integrates with your music library to sort songs by artist and album, creates smart play lists, and fills in any missing cover art. Also featured on this player is smart shuffling, song identification, social sharing, and music news. The player was launched on June 16, 2011. What I like most about this app is when I'm out in someones car, or a place where they're playing music and I don't know what the song is, I don't have to whip out Shazam to figure out what it is. Its all integrated in the player and does what you want right then and there. Unlike Itunes, I can share what I'm listening to on Facebook or Twitter without any hassle just by touching the screen a couple of times. While listening to an artist, you can also view updated news about that artist so you can always be up to date with them. Play will take your listening experience to a whole new level and give you all all types of cool new features in one app straight from the palm of your hand. Below is a video you can watch to see the experience of Play. Check it out!! Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Sublime With Rome
After the death of Sublime's lead vocalist Bradley Nowell in May of 1996 from a heroin overdose, Sublime has finally released a new album titled "Yours Truly" in July 2011. Rome Ramirez joins Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh to play their first gig in 2009. Following in 2010 was their first US tour together as a band. Being proof that it is impossible to replace Nowell, I believe Rome does a great job with his lyrics and voice. Sounding like Sublime in their later years when they were at their peak, Yours Truly really brings out the catchy pop & ska/reggae/hip hop feels. The lyrics are more about chasing girls rather than bitchy landlords and dog shit, but still says a little something for everyone. Featuring hip hop artist Wiz Khalifa on the track "Can You Feel It", Sublime With Rome bring out the groovy vibes everyone is waiting for. I think put a little bit of Long Beach Dub All Stars with some Sublime and you will end up with Sublime with Rome. SWR is stoked to announce that they will be headlining on the second night of shows at the Fueled By Ramen 15th anniversary in NYC Sep. 8th 2011. Having tour dates from summer '11, to the end of November, SWR is sure to stay busy for the rest of the year. You can check their tour dates at sublimewithrome.com to see if they are stopping by your city. I'm sure this is one show no one would want to miss. August 14 they will stopping by Austin, Tx. with 311 at the backyard. I will be sure to go to that show since its the closest they will be stopping to San Antonio, Tx. Yours Truly is a great album and should be heard by every Sublime fan. Take a listen to their lead off single from the album "Panic" to see what you think. I can promise you wont be dissatisfied.

Amy Winehouse Found Dead
At the age of 27, British artist Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home. No cause of death has been released but many believe that it must've had something to do with her alcohol problem. Two London ambulance crews that responded to the call said she was dead by the time they even arrived to the scene at 4:05 pm. "Its just beyond sad, there's nothing else to say. She was such a lost soul, may she rest in peace," British singer Lilly Allen wrote.
Winehouse has received many awards throughout her music career such as, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best New Artist, Song of the Year (Rehab) and Record of the Year in 2008 at the Los Angeles Grammy Awards. Having that also names Winehouse the first British female artist to win 5 grammys in one night. Her debut album "Back to Black" had sold over 5 million copies on its release in 2006.
In my opinion, Winehouse had one of the best R&B voices ever. "I didn't go out looking to be famous" Winehouse told reporters when her album "Back to Black" was released, "I am just a musician". After getting booed off stage in Serbia on June 18, Winehouse canceled the rest of her European tour to focus on recovery from her addiction. She left her rehab earlier this month a week after checking herself in. Winehouse was a troubled women with a wonderful talent and a very beautiful voice. It is just so sad to see her go. Amy Winehouse will always be remembered and will always continue to be played in my headphones.
